Fulton County Daily Report Seeks Page Perry’s Partner’s Opinion

Page Perry’s Craig Jones was quoted in the Fulton County Daily Report on October 27, 2009 for his opinions regarding a recent decision by the Georgia Court of Appeals  on the issue of when police can be held liable for injuries caused by dangerous car chases.  In a lawsuit brought by a woman who was injured when a police officer deliberately crashed into a suspect’s car, causing it to hit the woman (an innocent bystander), the court held that the officer could be held liable for damages if a jury found that he had acted with “reckless disregard for proper law enforcement procedures.”  While neither Mr. Jones nor the Firm had any involvement in that case, Craig Jones was interviewed about the decision because of his prior experience in litigating police misconduct issues—including two cases that Jones argued in the United States Supreme Court.  Few lawyers have argued cases in the Supreme Court, which accepts less than one percent of the cases that are appealed to it from lower courts.
