Fulton County Daily Report Article Features Page Perry's Two New Partners

Staff Reporter Meredith Hobbs of the Fulton County Daily Report recently (2/20/08) wrote an article about the addition by Page Perry of two new partners, David J. Worley and James M. Evangelista.   The pair, former partners in the now closed Atlanta office of Motley Rice, were attracted to Page Perry in part by their shared interest in pursuing litigation for investors who have suffered subprime mortgage-related losses.  As Worley said, “Any lawyer in this area wants to work in the cutting edge stuff, and Page Perry is in the forefront of this.”

In the article, J. Boyd Page, one of the firm’s founding partners, said that Page Perry is looking at both class actions and individual claims by large individual investors, since a lot of investors who have sustained losses are “big hitters whose losses stand on their own merits.”  Speaking of the firm’s newest partners, Page said, ”Their addition will help us both in representing large institutional investors who’ve lost money and, if we find one, in bringing class actions in that area.”

Page Perry, working with three other claimants’ securities firms, has already filed subprime arbitration claims against Morgan Keegan & Co. and Bear Stearns.

Evangelista, who previously worked with the firm’s other founding partner Alan R. Perry Jr. at Chitwood & Harley LLP, said, “This is a super platform for us to advance our practice in securities class actions, shareholder derivative suits, consumer class action cases and business tort litigation.”

According to Evangelista, Page Perry is looking at representing corporations and institutional and individual investors who have sustained significant losses from investing in mortgage-backed securities. These investments include “enhanced cash funds, where the funds have lost significant amounts of money from investments in subprime mortgage loans,” Evangelista said.

Evangelista started his career on the defense side, but he switched over to the plaintiff’s side where he has exclusively practiced since 2003.  In addition to his substantial securities and labor litigation experience, Worley, a former chair of the Labor and Employment Sections of both the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association, strengthens the firm’s employment law practice.  He is also a former chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia.
