Pat Huddleston is a former Enforcement Branch Chief at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the author of The Vigilant Investor. Pat has served as a court-appointed receiver in three SEC fraud cases and succeeded in recovering assets that funded substantial distributions to defrauded investors. He has served as a court-appointed receiver in two nationwide telemarketing cases for the Federal Trade Commission. He has also been appointed Chapter 11 Examiner by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia, tasked with investigating self-dealing by officers and directors of a public company. He concentrates his practice on receivership work, representation of investors, plaintiff’s work, expert witness work, and investigations.

Pat’s desire to protect investors from the scams that crowd the investing landscape led him to found Investor’s Watchdog LLC, (“IW”) in 2006. Investor’s Watchdog hosts a popular blog, investorswatchblog.com, which tracks breaking investment scams and teaches investors and financial advisers effective due diligence tactics.

Pat graduated from Georgia Southern College in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He went on to Mercer Law School in Macon, Georgia where he was a member of the Mercer Law Review and Chairman of the Moot Court Board. Pat was honored as the Outstanding Senior of his graduating class and inducted into the Brainard Currie Honor Society and the Order of Barristers. He also won the James Estes Moot Court Award and the Corpus Juris Secundum award for contributions to legal scholarship. He graduated from Mercer, cum laude, in 1987.

After three years learning litigation at an insurance defense firm, Pat joined the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as an Enforcement Attorney. Less than two years later he accepted a promotion to Enforcement Branch Chief, leading a team of impressive Enforcement Attorneys in nationwide investigations of insider trading, market manipulation, broker-dealer misconduct, and offering frauds of every kind.

Pat returned to private practice in 1996, representing investors in securities arbitration and litigation and representing targets of SEC investigations at the firms Dawson & Huddleston and Huddleston & Nohr. In 2006, Pat opened The Huddleston Law Firm and began his career as a court-appointed receiver. He joined Page Perry as a Partner in 2011.

Pat is admitted to practice law in all trial and appellate courts in Georgia, Tennessee, and Arkansas. He is also admitted in the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Sixth and Eleventh Circuits, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, the Eastern and Middle Districts of Tennessee, and the Western District of Arkansas.

Pat is a sought-after public speaker and corporate trainer who has presented to the California Association of Public Retirement Systems, the Ethics and Compliance Officer Association, the American Association of Individual Investors, the Society of Financial Service Professionals, the CFO Council, and the Financial Planners Association. He speaks on investment fraud, effective due diligence investigations, and how educated financial professionals can be heroes to their clients. He also enjoys teaching the next generation of business leaders. He has spoken to graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Arkansas’s Sam Walton College of Business, Auburn University, the University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, the University of Florida, the University of Georgia, Georgia State University, Georgia Southern University, the University of North Carolina, and Harvard.
